Ladies..You’re invited to take a few moments out of your busy schedule, drink a cup of tea, and reflect on the moments of grace in your life. The steaming tea reminds us of God’s overflowing love, poured out for us through his Son, Jesus Christ. We linger over a cup or two and thank Him for our friendships and the other simple pleasures of the day. Won’t you join us? When: Saturday, October 16, 9:30-11:30 am in the Social Hall. “Catechetical Sunday” is an annual observance to recognize and bless those members who are catechists at Regina and in our parish ministries of Baptism, Noah’s Nursery, Children’s Liturgy, 2nd Grade Sacraments, 3-5 Grade Youth Group, Junior High Youth Group, H.S. Youth Group, RCIC and RCIA, Baptism & Confirmation. We wish to bless and recognize our catechists at the 10:00 Mass on September 19th.

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be May 1, 2011 at 10:00 Mass. Parents of youth 2nd grade or older who will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist, please contact Cheryl Schropp to register. Families are invited to the Social Hall after 10:00 Mass on Sept. 12th for an informational meeting. Classes for this group will begin September 19th. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be held next year on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 10:00 Mass. Youth entering 9th grade or older who have not received this sacrament, please contact Shelly Conlon to register. Classes will begin this fall.

The Needleworkers’ Bazaar will be held Oct. 23 & 24. There will be a quilt raffle and also a raffle for an 18” doll with wardrobe and case. Tickets will go on sale in October. They will again have a “slightly used area“. Donations from parish members for the bazaar and bake sale will be greatly appreciated. Please keep us in mind when you are doing crafts or canning. Thank you for your support.

Protecting God's Children: The Diocese of Davenport has implemented a safety training program, Protecting God's Children, which is required for all adults working with minors in the Diocese. This training session takes approximately 3 hours, and is offered throughout the Diocese. Anyone interested in helping with a classroom, team, group or class trip will be required to complete this training, and the associated paperwork, before they will be eligible. This course is required for both paid and volunteer positions. To pre-register for a class please go to www.virtus.org and click on Registration. Be sure to check for classes in the Diocese of Davenport and the Diocese of Dubuque (Cedar Rapids area) for a date that works best for you. Once you have registered for the class you will need to pick up a paperwork packet to complete and return. This paperwork will allow the Diocese to complete the required background checks. Spirituality for Everyday is the topic of the day retreat to be held here on Saturday, Sept. 18th from 8:30am-3:00pm with Mass presided by Bishop Amos. Cost is $20 with registration deadline of Sept. 10th. See bulletin board.

On Sunday, September 5th we are hosting Coffee & Donuts after 10:00 Mass in gratitude for Tom Summy’s hard work as Project Manager of our new church and rectory. A tree and bench will be added to our landscape to honor him. Please join us in thanking him!

Volunteer staff of the Noah’s Nursery ministry are hosting a bake sale after all masses the weekend of Sept. 11&12. Donations of baked goods are welcome to be sold. All monies received will purchase cubbies for Noah’s Nursery, which provides child care for the infants 0-3 years of age during 10:00 Mass.

The Social Action Commission will be hosting its final blood drive of 2010 on Tuesday, Sept. 7th from 2-6:30pm. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the Narthex bulletin board. Please consider donating at St. Patrick so we can finish this year with a tremendous response! Thank you.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 2nd in the Social Hall following 8:30am Mass. Please remember to bring your recipes. We meet the first Thursday of each month from April-November. All are invited to join. One of the services we provide is to take the Eucharist to those who are not able to attend Mass. If you would like to help in this activity, please join us! New members are welcome!

At the August 22nd 10:00am Mass there will be a Back to School Blessing for teachers, helpers and students of all ages.
